Story

Today is 4th of February and I will be turning 11 years old. I would like to create fundraising to raise money for kids like myself and can receive best eye care possible from Royal Children Hospital. I’ll be doing a short course 4.7 km at run for kids on the 17th March 2024.

This is my story:

At 6 month of age I was diagnosed with Bilateral Congenital Cataracts. I was described to be legally blind and received urgent surgery at 6.5 months of age to remove cloudy lenses for both of my eyes at Dolphin ward RCH. I started wearing hard contacts at 7 months old age after recovery from my surgery. We have been visiting RCH for a regular check up every month for almost a year. The first 4 years was a struggle for both of my parents to remove and insert my contacts on daily basis albeit my sight improved with the lenses on.

When I was 4.5 years old ophthalmologist at RCH found fracture lense in my left eye and I need minor surgery to remove. I was recovering well and back to normal life within 2 weeks.

Today my eyes are really good, healthy and my vision is like other normal kids. Now I am wearing soft lenses and it feels so comfortable. Thanks to the ophthalmologist and RCH team to give me best care.

Thank you for reading my story and hope you can raise money welcome any contribution, great or small you could make for RCH. 😁
